The image stabilization is a plus though not as necessary as on longer lenses. The sharpness across the frame at f4.Ī superbly sharp lens covering a very wide focal range. It is also important how one holds the camera, like pointing the lens up or down. At 10mm i found minimal distortion at the sides of the frame depending on the scene photographed, and only when objects on the side of the frame are closer than the rest of the scene. It is not a small lens, but well built and fits nicely on my x-t1. I was afraid the 10-24mm at 10mm might have too much distortion, but after reading some reviews, i decided on the 10-24mm. Though honestly most would find is on wide angle lenses pretty much unnecessary, the old “1/lens length” slowest shutter speed rule suggests a shutter speed range of 1/10 to 1/24 seconds (depending on zoom setting) is hand-holdable and i’ve found it to be true. I have used the lens frequently handheld and the lens-based stabilization works very well. The constant f4 aperture is just fine considering i typically shoot around f8 to f11.
For interiors i’ve found this lens is all i need. For landscape work i usually want fairly wide or moderate telephoto lens lengths, and i rarely use the 18-55 range of lens lengths. I used nikon for 40+ years and made the switch in 2016. This lens was they last “piece of the puzzle” in my switch from nikon to fuji. Only wish i’d bought it earlier – the self correction when used with the xt-1 or xt10 is spot on – not weather-sealed which is why i waited, but fuji seem in no rush to produce one so went for it and very pleased with reults. It is a little bit chunky but not huge as wide angle for other camera brands (i had the tokina 12-24 f4 for nikon it was bigger that this fuji 10-24). It is really sharp and the af is really fast.
